I'm advertising this for a friend. Very cool car.
For sale is my very beautiful 1966 Karmann Ghia Coupe in Cherry Red. A complete and original European right hand drive (RHD) unrestored car imported from Africa in 2002.
The car was a one owner from new when imported to Cape Town, Africa and painted yellow to new female owners
wishes.
She owned it for 30 years. It was then sold to an unknown buyer in Africa who lived in Kwa-Zulu, he kept it for 5 years and returned it to it’s original colour, ‘Cherry Red’.
It was then purchased by a British girl who then imported it to the UK. She used it for a short time but found that it was impractical for London. I then bought it from her.
It is unique (I have not seen another quite like it) and just as it was when built 41 years ago. I consider it to be rare and looks amazing.
It has the original 1300cc engine which is in very good condition, it has 6 volt electrical system. It drives extremely well with no smoke and with excellent compression. It is not perfect (what vehicle is?) but is still a beautiful head turner.
Original front and back bumpers have been re-chromed at great expense, they are not modern inferior copies. It still retains its African tyres. I have rear lenses in both full red and red and amber. You will need the amber European indicator version for your MOT. Apparently, full red rear lenses changed in
1965.
MOT June 2008
THIS IS A VERY RELUCTANT SALE.
£6,795
The car has been serviced and maintained by the VW Specialist DG Motors of Wellingborough.
The car can be viewed virtually anytime just out side Wellingborough.
