After 2 x 14 hour days working on her roof, Veritie has a new Hat. Yipee
What a job !
Anybody out there know's anything about Dormobile roofs, will know how involved this job was. First of all, the fiberglass roof contains a steel frame for support, this had completely rotted away. Here's a picture of the old frame I cut out and the new one I welded up to replace it. :
Here is a before and after picture of the fiberglass roof before I cut out the old frame and one after I fiberglassed the new frame in and repainted.
Here's a pic of the finished roof, before I refitted the windows, seals and the brand new £270 roof bellows.
For those of you, wondering how on earth do you lift off and replace such a heavy piece of kit from your beloved camper without damaging the paintwork, well here's how :
The roof finished and hovering, waiting for me to drive veritie back under it.
Once the hinges are replaced the only job left to do is to fix the bellows to Veritie's tin top and seal to keep out the rain. This is not the easiest job in the world. I fell off the front roof once and I got stuck on the roof rack once and Princessp had to rescue me !
Here's the finished article, ready for big bang !
