right few things you will need. flywheel, ethier a 210mm or 215mm will fit inside the bug gearbox, a 228 from a 2ltr wont fit fit. you will also need to put a bearing in the center of the flywheel, a stock bug beering will fit or you can get bronze bearings. what are you doing about the cooling? 3 main ways of doing it as the stock t4 cooling system wont fit a bug unless you cut the rear valance off and prop the deck lid open. option 1;csp upright cooling, prob the cheapest option and uses mostly bug cooling parts with a adoptor plate to mount the alternator/dynamo. option 2;dtm cooling very trick looking but hard to get in this country and finally porsche cooling. this option will set you back about a grand with new parts but is by far the best set up to go for. All of the above will need a remote oil cooler with a fan. exhuast. you said your going turbo so i guess your'll be making your own header for this? carbs. again as your going turbo i guess your going efi? if not then your'll be useing some blow through carbs so normall t4 mainfolds etc can be used. make sure you run good gearbox mounts and you would be better running a mid mount on the gerabox as well poss even a kafer cup style brace to help the frame horns hold the engine. any more questions feel to contact me as have done this conversion many times and am at the moment putting a 1700 t4 turbo motor in Pollys wizard. cheers Rob

Hi there. Are there any Body mods needed to do this, If just going the Carb route, will the inner wings need cutting about? Also, i guess a removable rear valance would be a bonus. Cheers ( Sorry to jump on the thread)

no engine bay mods needed as the t4 lump is approx 25mm narrower than a t1 engine. you will just need to make up some tins to seal the engine to the body. Removable rear valance is nice but not needed when doing a t4 swap.
