Well, just shake really. Beetle drives fine but as soon as it hits a uneven bit of road, steering wobbles uncontrollably until I apply the brake and slow down - then it's fine (until the next pot hole). It doesn't happen at speed, only around 30ish on Northampton's famous road dents. Can anyone suggest what it is? Any help would be much appreciated?

what model bug is it? if its a 1302/3 then first point of call will be the front end bushes, 2 on the inner tca mounts and 4 on the anti roll bar. if that dont sort it then its time to do the steering idler bush and prob replace the track rod ends . a proper front end geomtery check would also be very worth while. if its a standard bug then check the 4 main bolts that hold the beam on and also the track rod ends. do the normal checks on both models and make sure wheel bearings are good and adjusted properly. also check the front tyres are still round, sounds daft but have seen some very odd shaped tyres in the past. any probs give me a ring at work and we will have a look for you.
cheers rob
