okay, my oil level has been on or near minimum for over month, i filled it to half way drove to blisworth and back (about 20 miles) and its gone back down to minimum. i cant find where its coming from because i have oil all over the engine and the tinware, but it collects in the bottom pulley and i get a bit dripping from one corner of the sump also i have no idea if its because i have a stupid pipe that doesnt fit properly and if you push it all the way in oil explodes everywhere

The breather pipe into the air intake looks abit of a cack join. Is there oil underneath? you'd be suprised where the oil travels, i had a leak in the crancase join untill i rebuilt it and Judgie recommended a gasket sealent, hasnt leaked since. Like i say it can travel far, i had a small leak from my breather pipe and i ended up on the back window and its a bay.
Get some clean rag and wipe the entire engine down, everywhere, underneath etc, go for a drive, come back and put some card under the engine enough for it to cover, leave it a while if you come back and have a drop on the card then trace it back. Let us know how you get on.

okay so i cleaned up the engine bay filled up with oil drove a couple of miles and no oil leaked into the engine bay so.. i got underneath cleaned the underside of the tinwear and the oil sump and drove about 5 and a half miles checked the engine bay again.. no oil.. checked the oil level.. about the same as when i filled up.. so i put the cardboard underneath and it appears to be dripping from here : thats not my car btw thats a random pic i found on google lol

Sausage, mine always had a big drip in a similar place but the other end near the bell housing for the clutch, it was the flywheel oil seal in the end, engine out, flywheel off and swap seal.
In think to trace it its just going to be a case of keep wiping it and get a torch out and get under there. Keep doing that a few times and you will soon find it.

Take the "thing" that plugs your oil filler neck out and clean it out. It looks to me like the engine cant push out the crankcase gases effectively and its farting out around the front pulley. This carries oil out with it.

get a proper oil filler neck rather than that bodged item you have in there....then i would try it again...the only time as mentioned above that i have known oil to come from behind the fan belt pully on the crank is when the breather from the filler neck is blocked,,,there is no oil seal behind this pully (clever german design),,and ref to other post of your standard air filter against the after market one put the standard one back on...unless you are going to modify carb/heads/exhaust the air filter is doing no good....i had after market on my engine have now gone back to the original and it never run trhis good with the after market one on it and fuel economy is very satisfactory ;D
