ok i got a couple of questions about my 1960 bug -
1
the speedo on my bug doesent seem to have any lighting so that i can read it at night? is this normal or is there a bulb gone???
2
there appears to be a pull knob attached to a cable coiled up under the bonnet. it is the same as the ones that are for the lighs and wipers. should this be on the dash board and has anybody got any idea what on earth it could be for???

Speedo will just be a bulb.
The pull knob sounds like a bonnet release, but my lowlight is a 59 and it originally came with an early spec engine, with the one piece crank case and alternator stand, it came fitted with a manual choke carb and i had a cable under the bonnet that went under the petrol tank and down through the centre tunnel to the back of the car. Turned out to be the choke cable.

ahh the joys of previous owners re; speedo, i know nothing about bugs sorry but on my split the light switch turns as well as pulls out, this turns the dial lights on and off (not sure why you'd want to though) is it something as simple as that? any pics of the knob? is it still connected to the wire? check out a wiring diagram to see what it should be for.or follow it to its source

i am gonna try turning the lights switch first thing in mornin
the knob under the bonnet is still connected to the wire, i have tryed pulling it bt nothing happens. i have followed the wire but it seems to just seems to go under the carpet somwhere in the footwells, not had chance to follow it any further than that.

If you change the bulb and it still does not work the switch is broken on the dash. Its not a problem as you can connect the speedo light to the headlight side of the switch. I have done this on my 64 bug.
Any probs let me know
