Thoiught i'd start a thread showing everybody why im never about and why i have no money!
this baby is my 1971 Karmann Convertible.
She's called Meffy and was given to me in a shocking state by my ex girlfriends neighbour...
The plan was to get her good again so here goes....
this is her when i got her not too bad looking but actually a total rot box.
the advisory on the MOT said "this is a very weak car I would not like to be in it in a crash!"
Well after ages of waiting in my girlfriend (then ex's) garage then some amazing friends let me stick it in their garage and have provided copius teas and smiles.
look at all the rust, in fact it's more like ROT!!!!
Doors off and braced ready for the lift...
The next job was to lift the bodu off the chassis so i could prepare the chassis and get at those fiddly bits...
So with the chassis old floor pans off, cut off the central support and give a good wire brushing.
After two new floor pans and a new central support and home made bottom bit the pan is painted red on the inside and the bottom is (will be) coated in tetrasyl stone chip stuff.
I've replaced the old shocks with new gas filled ones and new urethane gearbox mounts to repalce the old broken rubber ones.
I was gonna fit adjustable spring plates but gave up....
here is my bro sorting a repair on the bottom of the tunnel.! I love action shots!
The body is receiving my (and my brothers) attention now.
The front left inner wing is well shot so loads of new bits including shock towers and front and rear panels.
loads of welding!!!
loads of fire!
And my patchwork inner wing is nearly complete!
More coming soon.
I've got to finish it soon!
