Right..here we go. YES I know, I haven't finished Harry yet but you know.... you can never have enough VWs. So for those of you who don't know we "obtained" a 72 Squareback a while back with a 1641 in it and twin carbs, no MOT and a (LITTLE) bit of welding to do but what the hell, if it's old and says VW on it, it's worth saving so we couldn't resist him. This is what he looked like : Nasty exhaust but the rest we can work with. I hate rusty and holey chassis (bodies I don't mind ;D) so we want him solid so it's a matter of a full strip and welding job. This is what he looks like now The floorpans actually very good in the middle The front inner wings need some spit 'n' polish well actually they need completely re-constructing The rear inner wings are good The inside with it's new invisible seats ;D We will let you know how he gets on is his re-constructive surgery. ;D ;D

Bob's not gunna be RAT, well not like Harry anyway. He will be a bit like MrAfwo's Chocy deluxe. No rust but not all shiny if you know what I mean.
We have just enough money to get him done but not all concourse. ;D ;D

Well its been a while but that doesn't mean nothing's been happening on Bob. He was slightly more rustier than we thought. Here is his floor....... IN A WHEELBARROW !!!!!!!!!! GULP So with most of the rot cut out, he looks like this ... Floor...or lack of it ... More floor The offside inner front wing is completely shot, more holy than the pope's jockstrap ! I will post a bit more tomorrow, showing the welding

I couldn't wait to post the next pictures, so here we go Here is that same inner wing, fully welded, ready for stone chipping and undersealing , luckily you won't see it when the outer wing is on, we had to weld both skins on the inner wing....nightmare ! Here is the floor fully welded ready for sealing, It's as solid as a very solid thing made of something solid ! ;D Here is the drivers side, notice the fully custom fabricated heater channels, inside those there is stainless steel flexible heater tubes. - stops all the condensation rotting the channels from within ! Here is the rear part of the floor. This was REALLY rotten and is nearly all new. Here is the front bulkhead ready for sealing and filling , then finishing. What the pictures dont show is that all the front suspension mounts have been welded, the engine has been dropped out, also the rear beam and axle and all the rear engine compartment has been welded and all the rear suspension mounts replaced. All the brake pipes have been replaced with new and now we are fabricating a new pedal assembly, finishing the side sills and repairing the rear valance. Then it's the fiddly job of sealing and painting. I need : New steering damper Bugpack exhaust 2 new front seats 2 new heat exchangers and some bumpers ;D Everybody keep an eye open .....please
